Welcome to Noe Valley

Laidback family-oriented neighborhood with great views

Noe Valley is a laidback and family-oriented neighborhood in central San Francisco. This charming and quaint neighborhood is surrounded by the Twin Peaks and Diamond Heights, insulating it from the SF fog and providing Noe Valley with some of the city’s sunniest weather. The hilly topography also provides many homes with great views. Noe Valley has quirky hippie appeal with a local vibe to the neighborhood’s businesses.

Noe Valley’s real estate mix is dominated by classic SF homes. These colorful Edwardian and Victorian homes can be found in greater numbers here than in any other SF neighborhood. Other housing options include a variety of mid-century single-family homes and contemporary condominiums.

People & Lifestyle

Noe Valley is home to many young families and strollers are a common sight along the neighborhood’s relaxed shopping streets. The surrounding peaks give Noe Valley the feel of being an insulated small neighborhood nestled within the heart of San Francisco. Despite this, Noe Valley is conveniently adjacent to bustling neighborhoods such as the Castro and the Mission District.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

24th Street is full of inviting neighborhood spots with a laidback and welcoming vibe. This picturesque street feels like an idyllic village center with beloved local shops and restaurants housed within buildings dating back to the 19th Century. Firefly Restaurant offers an ever-changing menu of homestyle cooking. Rooted in American culinary traditions, this Zagat-rated Noe Valley standout serves perfect fried chicken alongside seasonal specialties with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Aha Fresh is another cozy Noe Valley eatery which is as unpretentious yet easy to fall in love with. Breakfast and lunch plates are prepared with care using fresh local ingredients. Recommended menu choices include rich omelets, souffle pancakes, and hamburger salads. Lovejoy’s Tea Room is one of Noe Valley’s quirkiest neighborhood gems. This friendly spot serves cups of tea and scones in a flowery setting decorated with mismatched furnishings and bric-a-brac. Other popular dining choices include convivial Italian and Mediterranean restaurant Ardiana and the artistic Japanese-style Saru Sushi Bar. Noe Valley also offers many one-of-a-kind retailers. Ambiance artfully appeals to all budgets with accessories, beauty products, and women’s fashion items priced anywhere between $5 and $500. Mary’s Exchange is a great choice both for picking up new apparel and selling clothes you no longer want. This consignment store has a fine choice of seasonal wear for women and it offers sellers a much higher percentage of the resale value than most similar stores. Other neighborhood boutiques include the thoroughly San Franciscan ISSO SF, eclectic and ethically-minded boutique Curator, and high-end bohemian clothing store Two Birds.

Things to Do

Noe Courts Park is a relaxed neighborhood greenspace featuring a tree-shaded lawn, basketball and tennis courts, and a children’s playground. Seward Mini Park is a fun spot where the high-speed Seward Street Slides are designed for teenagers and adults. Noe Valley Farmers Market runs each Saturday between 8am and 1pm all year round. Vendors at the farmers market sell a variety of farm-fresh produce, handicrafts, and ready-to-eat foodstuffs.
