Welcome to Potrero Hill

Great views in one of San Francisco’s sunniest neighborhoods

Potrero Hill is one of the sunniest neighborhoods in San Francisco. This hilly neighborhood is insulated from the famous SF fog and consequently enjoys some of the city’s best weather. The hilly topography also provides many homes with magnificent views of the city skyline, Twin Peaks, and the SF Bay. Potrero Hill has a quiet and family-oriented feel within easy reach of more bustling downtown areas. Homes on the neighborhood’s north slope are typically the most sought-after due to their proximity to Downtown SF.

Potrero Hill has some of San Francisco’s most eclectic real estate. Housing options include cozy cottages, contemporary high-rise condominiums, classic SF row houses, and spectacular custom-built mansions.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

18th Street and the streets surrounding it are lined with cozy neighborhood eateries and independent retailers. Brunch is a San Francisco tradition and few places in the city attract longer lines at breakfast than Plow. This farm-to-table comfort food destination is well worth the wait. Signature menu items include avocado on toast topped with a poached egg, lemon ricotta pancakes, and the hearty loaded plate known as The Plow. When the wait’s too long at Plow, Hazel’s Kitchen is a nearby alternative for simple but tasty American breakfast and lunch fare. Chez Maman serves delicious French bistro fare. The straightforward but perfectly executed dishes at Chez Maman include mussels with fries, roast chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, and an unbeatable French onion soup. Goat Hill Pizza is a neighborhood favorite which puts a uniquely SF spin on classic pizza with sourdough-crusted pies. Founded in 1896, Anchor Brewing Company was America’s very first craft beer brewery. Take a brewery tour to learn about Anchor’s rich history of brewing techniques and sample a flight or head straight to the adjacent Public Taps to enjoy great beer alongside eats from local food trucks. Nestled between Potrero Hill and the SF Bay, the Dogpatch neighborhood is full of hip businesses including independent shops and trendy brew pubs and wine bars.

Things to Do

Potrero Hill Library is a fantastic community resource with weekly classes and activities focusing on a huge variety of different interests. The library’s floor-to-ceiling windows also provide some of the best free views in San Francisco. In October, Potrero Hill Festival is a much anticipated event with local food vendors, art booths, historians, and live performances from some of the area’s most talented musicians. There’s also a Kids Zone with games, rides, and entertainers. Another October highlight is the Potrero Pet Parade and Costume Contest. This fun annual event has taken place in the neighborhood every year since 1980. Local residents dress their pets up in costumes with awards given to the best dressed.
